Hey! Kairos 4 is partnering with the California Alumni Association to host “Cal Connect” in some of our home towns. We’ll be hitting Sactown on Thursday the 14th and Fresno on Sunday the 17th.
“So, what is Cal Connect?”
Its an opportunity for Cal alumni to host an informal time to welcome incoming frosh and tell them what “real” life is like at Cal! All of us went to Cal (GO BEARS!) for undergrad and some of us also for grad school. We’ll give you tips on which courses we liked best, best places to study and of course, best places to eat. We know its both an exciting and anxious time and we want to go back to our high school stomping grounds help answer any questions and assist with your transition.
“What do I do at Cal Connect?”
Its no cost. Grab a latte (I recommend the vanilla) from Starbucks and just sit down to talk. Come by yourself or with your family. Come when you can and leave when you need to. Simple.
What is actually going to fit into my dorm?
What are the “weeder” classes?
How do I get around campus?
Should I get a bike?
Should I take Math 1A even if I took Calc in high school?
Where do I find the best and/or cheapest coffee?
“How do I sign up?”

See you there!
Yahoo! I’m excited to go back to my home turf (Sac-town) and meet all the new freshmen going to Cal this year! I wish I had something like this when I came to Cal back in 2000. I think this will be a great opportunity to give back to the Berkeley and Sacramento community in such a concrete way. I’m also looking forward to going to Fresno, too… to check out Rich Yen’s home turf. Fresno? FresYES!
Hey, my name is Jully and I’ll be one of the Cal alums who will be there! I got my BA in Chemisry and MA in Education, both at Cal.
Even though I grew up in the Berkeley area, I still remember leading up to my move in at Cal, I didn’t know what to expect. I didn’t even know what to buy for my dorm room, how I was supposed to get my schedule and books. How did this DC work anyways? Was there like a time slot to eat?
I had so many unknowns, that I didn’t even know what to ask. Is that you? Don’t worry. We’ve tried to think through what you should know before you step foot on campus (please wear shoes). We’ve also made this awesome survival guide (free!) that will orient you better than anything you get during orientation. We’re excited for you and can’t wait to see you!
Wow, how did it go guys? I heard your shirts were a hit!! I have to get myself one of those shirts; even though i’m not from sac or fresno =)
