This Friday: Valentine’s Bible Study

Hope you guys are all looking forward to the weekend….3-day weekend!  Whoohoo!  I’m excited about Saturday’s Valentine’s Day of Compassion event, but before that, we’ll have a special Valentine’s Bible Study on Friday.

Meet us for dinner beforehand at the YWCA (2nd floor, ring the white doorbell of front door is locked) @ 6pm sharp, we’ll then all head off together to First Presbyterian Church on Channing and Dana street for a combined fellowship Bible Study at 7:00PM (the rest of Kairos, A2F, and Koinonia will be there!).  UPDATE: GTS courses will begin next week.

Hope to see you there!

Hanging in there?

Quick update:

We’ll be having dinner tonight at Lotus House on Durant (near the Durant Food Court) at 6:30pm. After that we’ll all head over to First Presbyterian Church at 7:30pm for Bible Study with the rest of Kairos, A2F, and Koinonia fellowships. We have a special outdoor element surprise post-bible study so you won’t want to miss it!

So dress warm, and be sure to bring a LED light or a small flashlight if you have one. :D

Finals are upon us. Hope you guys are all hanging in there!

See you tonight!

Don’t Miss This Friday!

Hey guys.

Sad to say, but the semester is rearing to a close… finals season is upon us [insert horrific scream here]. Therefore, we will be having our last official Kairos 4 small group bible study this Friday (the following 2 Fridays we will be coming together with the rest of Kairos, A2F, and Koinonia for large group bible studies). So you don’t want to miss it!

Need more incentive? How about an Xmas Party after bible study with Kairos 3? We will be playing a variation of White Elephant Gift Exchange together as a group. It’s gonna be fun, and a great way to officially kickstart this Christmas season. Please bring a $5 (max) gift to partake in the fun festivities. And please please try bring something that people would actually want… so put off wrapping up your grandma’s fruitcake or Aunt Sally’s odd-sized socks for another time.

See you on Friday!

Bible Study TONIGHT 11/25 @ 1st Presbyterian Church

Hi everyone,
In lieu of the Bible study that we’d otherwise have on Friday, we will instead be combining with Koinonia and Acts 2 Fellowship campus groups for a joint Bible study tonight.  Details as follows:

Location: 1st Presbyterian Church (Channing/Dana)
Time: 8pm, Tonight.

(There will be a one-hour prayer meeting before the Bible study, which is actually the regular prayer meeting for Gracepoint Fellowship Church, just for your additional information)

We’ll resume the Friday Bible studies after Thanksgiving!

If I don’t see you tonight, or before the weekend, I, on behalf of the Kairos 4 staff, really wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!!  Don’t eat too much!  I know I will!

:)

Recap: Last Week’s Key Verse & Post Bible Study Games

Last week, we spent our devotions reflecting over Hebrews 11-12. Here was the key verse for the week.

Jenga-Jenga-Jenga! Our post-bible study fun was spent at Tim and Debbie’s house in quaint Alameda. We had an intense Jenga match between the guys and the gals, in which we ended up tied. I think if we played one more round, the guys totally would have had it in the bag. Check out the last pic, and you can see what us guys were up against.

Sorry Jully! I’m sure if your left arm was feeling better you would have totally had that piece!

Afterwards, we played many intense rounds of King Kong Shower and Ming Mang Mong. Contrary to what you think, Zach, you seemed like you were getting the hang of the games quite well by the end of the night!

Wax on, wax off! Ding, dang, dong!

Until next time…

Fenton’s Challenge… Just Did It!

This past Friday’s post bible study fun was to take the Fenton’s Challenge. Eat the ginormous 3 scoop-banana split ice cream in 20 minutes (even all the melted stuff has to be eaten), and you get a t-shirt! The waitress awaits our orders. Are we in or are we out?

Many have tried, and few have succeeded. The challengers? Brittany, Jully, Rich Yen, and Riley. The spectators? Tim, Zach, Monica, and Rich Dongses. Waaay too much ice cream for me, for sure!

So this is what it looked like (middle, right). Monica and I were quite happy with our smaller single scoops (left).

Funny how the friendly challenges turned into a girl vs. guy thing, too.

So was anyone actually able to finish in 20 minutes? Drum roll please…

Brittany did it! Congrats!

And Jully was a close 2nd. If only she had a few more minutes, she would have had it, too! Sorry Riley… I don’t think that counts…

So in the end… the girls took the gold. Alright… wait until next time, us guys are going to go into training!

“High Moan Leak Hidden”

What? Say it faster… Does it sound like another English phrase? High Moan Leak Hidden!!! Give up? “I’m only kiddin’.” Crazy, huh? That was the gist of our post Bible study game on Friday night, called Mad Gab.

3 teams, a stack of cards with random words strung together, a timer, and ultimate mad gab mayhem. Each team tried to guess the phrases by reading the random words out loud and listening to each other say it fast, slur it, enunciate certain syllables, etc. Who knew English could be so fun?

Let’s try a few more:  “Zola Reek Lips.” (and how about the ones in the pic?)

Post your comments if you think you know the answer! A parting one for all those that were there on Friday:

“Tanks Ford Deem Emma Reese.”

New Student Welcome Night was AWESOME!

Man, it was the best NSWN yet.  All three groups got together and we had a massive BBQ.  Last year, we ran out of meat, and had to go buy some chicken nuggets or something at Safeway.  This year, we were prepared and had plenty for everyone to come back for seconds, thirds, and even fourths!

It was amazing seeing Pauley Ballroom packed with so many people.  We even had to kick out our upperclassmen because there were so many people.  I heard that some late-comers had to be turned away because there was no room.  That’s too bad…I hope they come back for Friday’s event, though!

The music was rockin’ and the new video was well-done.  All that work setting up the trusses and lights made for a very concert-like feel.  Man, that was cool!  Pastor Ed’s message was great, also, as he talked about how we try to specialize ourselves and put on masks so that we can improve our self-image.  Well, hopefully, we can start up a bunch of small groups this year and really experience fellowship and growth in Christ!  In case you missed NSWN I, here’s the small group video:

If you weren’t there yesterday, maybe we’ll see you tomorrow at NSWN II!
