Wow, what an awesome trip! I’m so glad we got to go on this trip to Lakes Spaulding, Bowman, and Faucherie. Oh, and also Island Lake. Man, that’s a lot of lakes…almost like Minnesota!
We did stuff no other group at Gracepoint Fellowship Church as ever done before. We drove miles and miles off-road into Lake Bowman and set up camp, walked out to the lake under a clear, full-moon night, and we rowed rafts out to a small island on Lake Faucherie for a tasty lunch. We experienced great fellowship as we drove and shared stories, jokes, and riddles, walking out to Lake Bowman and singing praise songs under a full moon (no flashlights required!). Man, it was such a great time!
My personal favorite was the off-roading, but I think most other people on the trip would beg to differ. I understand where they’re coming from–riding in a bumpy car isn’t really as fun as *driving* a bumpy car. Well, maybe next time someone else can have the pleasure of off-roading. All I need to say, however, is that my two-wheel drive truck fared just as well as the other 4X4 trucks…4X4 is overrated….
Kairos 4 went up on Friday afternoon, but Kairos 2 went a day early and enjoyed the scenery at Island lake. When we got up there, we immediately headed for Lake Spaulding and went kayaking. What was supposed to be a relaxing time of enjoying the scenery as we cruised along the shores turned into a massive water fight, thanks to Andy’s initiative. Thanks, Andy!
When we got enough water in our ears, we decided to head off and set up camp, in time for dinner. ”Wonderful hands” prepared a magnificent dinner for all of us, and we ate to our hearts’ content. After that we walked–no flashlights needed–under a clear, moonlight sky down to Lake Bowman, where we sang some songs and admired the heavens. What a full day!
The next morning, we drove out to Lake Faucherie and took a hike to the waterfall. Unfortunately, we were mistaken, and ended up at…well, I guess falling water IS technically a waterfall…

It’s okay, though–we found someone who gave us directions to the right one, and ended up at the real thing.

Whew! What a rewarding hike! Following our hike, we rowed out to a little island on Lake Faucherie, where we enjoyed our lunch surrounded by breathtaking views. It just doesn’t get much better than that!
Man, this trip was quite fun! I’m really looking forward to our next one!
